I will never understand the ways of God. I get that we are not meant to… His ways are higher than ours and all that. But I can’t help but try with all of my might to understand what in the world He is doing. Why do I do that? Why do WE do that? (You know it’s not just me!) I am about to undergo yet another major life transition. Another change. Another step out into the unknown. Another opportunity for pain and heartache to run amok.

Another chance to look more like Him.

After all, that’s what it all comes down to, isn’t it?

I haven’t blogged in a while. I haven’t felt like I’ve had much to say in the way of encouragement. A wise friend of mine was half-jokingly/half seriously getting on to me about not blogging. I gave her my excuse. She responded: “But God is still teaching you things, right?”.

Right. I see your point. And in fact, that IS the point. He will ALWAYS be teaching us things and more often than not, He uses change to do so because He wants us to look like Him. That’s what I want, too, but change isn’t easy.

Change can cause doubt, fear, isolation, rejection, tears and unknown amounts of pain. It can also cause assurance, hope, community, acceptance, tears (of joy) and unknown amounts of gain.

So bring it on. Let’s do this. Anybody else in need of a change? In the words of one of my favorite artists:

Bring it on.
Let the lightning flash.
Let the thunder roll.
Let the storm winds blow.
Bring it on.
Let the trouble come.
Let the hard rains fall.
Let it make me strong.
Bring it on.

Now I don’t want to sound like some hero.
‘Cause its God alone that my hope is in.
But I’m not going to run from the very thing,
that would drive me closer to Him.
So bring it on.

If all the pain, tears and confusion leave me looking like Him in the end… then its all worth it. So bring it on, change.

“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways…”
Isaiah 55:9
